Eating Disorder Inpatient Management - Children & Adolescents

This training provides you with a practice-based introduction to managing a young person with an eating disorder in a hospital setting.

This training provides relevant professional development in the area of Eating Disorders suitable for Medical Practitioners, Nurses, Dietitians, Psychologists and other allied health professionals.

This training consists of 2 courses; Foundations and Children & Adolescents Eating Disorder Inpatient Management.

This training can be completed at your own pace. The Foundations course will take approximately 1 hour to complete. The Children & Adolescent course will take approximately 2 hours to complete.

This eLearning training is a highly interactive online course that includes expert videos, role-plays, interactive exercises, quizzes and resources.

  1. Describe the function of an eating disorder
  2. Identify risk factors for developing an eating disorder
  3. Recognise the starvation response
  4. Explain the importance of a collaborative approach to treatment
  5. Explain the importance of involving carers and families in treatment
  6. Describe the screening and assessment processes required for an individual with a suspected eating disorder
  7. Recognise the need to assess for an eating disorder when an individual presents with other mental health concerns
  8. Describe the medical and nutrition treatment goals for an individual admitted with an eating disorder
  9. Demonstrate ways to effectively communicate and engage with an individual with an eating disorder
  10. Identify strategies for addressing challenging eating disorder behaviours
  11. Recognise the need to include family and carers in the treatment and care of an individual with an eating disorder
  12. Plan the transition from hospital to community care
