Family Based Treatment for Children & Adolescents with Anorexia Nervosa: The Basics

This training provides you with a basic understanding of the recommended first line treatment for children and adolescents with Anorexia Nervosa and other eating disorders.

This training provides relevant professional development in the area of eating disorders suitable for Medical Practitioners, Nurses, Dietitians, Psychologists and other allied health professionals.

This training can be completed at your own pace and will take approximately 1 hour to complete.

It is recommended that you complete our ‘Management of Eating Disorders in the Community’ online training, as a comprehensive understanding of eating disorders is assumed knowledge for this training.

This online course includes expert videos (conducted by renowned Australian and international specialists in the field, as well as feedback from sufferers and their families), interactive exercises and quizzes.

There are 4 modules, which will equip you with a basic understanding of eating disorders; the therapeutic principals required when working with a young person with an eating disorder; an overview of Family Based Treatment (FBT) including background information and evidence and the practical application of FBT.

  1. Recognise eating disorder presentations with a focus on Anorexia Nervosa
  2. Understand therapeutic principles for working with eating disorders
  3. Develop knowledge for the theoretical and empirical foundation of FBT
  4. Appreciate the general structure and overview of FBT
