Sue Austin works in private practice seeing adults with severe and enduring eating disorders, especially those whose illness has not responded to other treatments, including CBT and CBT-E. She has worked in this field since 1993. Sue uses psychodynamic psychotherapy approaches to engage with the patient's thoughts, feelings and experiences. The aim of this approach is to make space for what has previously been contained in and communicated by the eating disorder to become more conscious so that, over time, it becomes increasingly redundant and can relinquish its hold on the patient's life. Treatment is tailored to the individual's needs and, where appropriate, a collaborative care plan is developed with their GP and other professionals. Sue has over 15 years experience as a clinical supervisor in the eating disorders field.
